A Really Bad Day

It was Thursday June 21st.  I knew that Richard was off work on Friday and we could go camping.  I mowed the lawn, watered all the flower pots, did the washing, got groceries, and packed the motorhome all with the anticipation of going camping right when Richard got home.  When I called Rich with my plan, to my dismay he said he had planned to go with the youth to the temple to do baptisms for the dead that night.  Rich had already spent Tuesday and Wednesday doing Bishop work and I reminded him that he was going with the scouts all week next week and he hadn't put the baptisms on the calendar.  Ok, so I laid a big guilt trip on him and it worked.  He made some calls to make sure other priesthood brothers were going to the temple and made time for me.  We headed to Seven Peaks Provo to swim for a few hours and then planned to go to American Fork canyon after.  We arrived at Seven Peaks to find out that they were closing in a few minutes because some big corporation had rented the facility for the evening.  We drove a few blocks and the motorhome died.  We barely coasted through the intersection and around the corner to someplace to park.  It was nearly 100 degrees.  We wandered the streets in search of a place to eat and at a local bike store they recommended a greasy spoon that turned out to be awful.  We walked back to the motorhome in hopes it would start.  We headed off again and missed the right exit and ended up on a long detour....Provo freeways are a mess....and had pretty much decided to go home.  We we came to the American Fork exit, changed out mind and headed up the canyon only to find the campgrounds full.  I said to Richard to drive through the campground because did they really mean full full.  Our luck changed and one spot was open and we got it just before someone else took it. We rejoiced to be in the beautiful canyon and sitting around the campfire making cinnamon bread on the stick.   I love being with my best friend Richard.  I guess everything turned out ok but I think the Lord really wanted Richard with the youth at the Temple.

Tibble Fork and a hike around the lake.

Rachelle's Birthday Lunch

I was excited to spend the day celebrating Shellbelle's 26th birthday.  I wanted to take her to lunch and a movie.  We decided to invite Dad for lunch because we were going to Paradise Bakery right by the bike store.  We were eating and the next thing we know there was Grady with a big chocolate brownie for Rachelle.  Then a few minutes later who should appear but Jeff.  I know Rachelle really appreciated the surprise.  We went to the movie, Snow White and the Huntsman....not a good choice...Kristen Stewart can't act and it was pretty dark, but anyway it was fun being together.  Oh, I do hate to see myself in pictures.  Scary...do I really look like that?     Happy Birthday Rachelle!

Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Now that I am blogging, it makes me so mad when I forget to take pictures.  I did that twice this past week.   So on Father's Day we celebrated with a big family BBQ at Brent and Calee's house...sorry no pictures.  Thanks to all the Dads in the family.  I certainly was blessed with one of the best.  Then on Monday, June 18th We took Jordan and Jamie to see Joseph at the Murray Outdoor Amphitheatre....again sadly I forgot to take pictures.  We enjoyed the singing and dancing and watching Jordan's friend who was part of the children's chorus.

Seven Peaks

On Wednesday June 13th we went to Seven Peaks, Salt Lake.  Logan is wearing Grandma's hat, having a snack and deep in thought.

Babysitting Adventures June 11, 2012

Jeff, Mo, Logan, Brighton, and Eden came to stay for the week while Monique goes to Core Academy at Murray High School.  On Monday, June 11th we went to the Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving Point.  The kids are having a snack in the back of the truck while we wait for Aunt Rachelle to arrive.

 Hugging a big dinosaur leg.
We loved designing a new dinosaur.

 The finished dino!
Here we are trying to figure out how the bones go together.
 We did it!
Eden loved playing in the water and sand.

 A dino shark?

 Digging for dinosaur bones.

Thumbs up.  We liked our experience here.

First camping trip of 2012.

Richard and I decided on the spur of the moment to go camping.  In conference a few years ago, one of the general authorities talked about a hike up Logan Canyon and since then I have wanted to do it, but didn't know how to find it again without reading the Ensign.  Richard went to the church website and typed in Logan Canyon and up came the talk.  The hike was the Crimson Trail and so we threw some food and clothes in the motorhome and headed to Logan for the night.  It was a beautiful campground and the hike would have been great if we hadn't gone the wrong way.  We had been hiking for hours on the wrong trail when we met a young man coming down from the summit.   He laughed when we asked him if we were on the Crimson Trail.  He hiked with us down the mountain and showed us the way we should have gone.  Two hikes later we reach this beautiful spot looking down on the Logan valley.

Oh, and we always have to have at least one flower picture.

Logan's Kindergarten Graduation

Little Logan is growing up so fast.  We were able to go to his kindergarten graduation on May 29, 2012.  He sure is a handsome little fellow and soooo smart.

A silly picture with his teacher.
